My mom had three hospital admissions in November and just couldn't quite hold her own...many episodes where she became short of breath and really weak. She is nauseated all the time and the lack of nutrients to fuel her body led to a downward spiral of being in the hospital again. She finally went to Mayo in Rochester to be with the transplant team. It appears that the care and expertise of that staff is far superior than what she was getting here in the Cities. She continues to be on the waiting list for a liver transplant and now with these symptoms her 'Meld score' to determine her candidacy is getting higher. Time will tell - for now, we just pray for strength and decent quality of life while she waits. You can follow her updates here:
