Dan Patch Days

Steve and Gretchen had us over for the annual BBQ to join the Dan Patch Days celebration in Savage, MN. We didn't quite make it to the park - but we enjoyed the music and fireworks right from his backyard. Several rounds of bean bag toss and a late night jam with Alex and his guitar. Good clean summer fun!

Appliances

Seriously?! I started the washing machine and it crapped out on me mid-cycle! The latch on the door broke open. Maybe it was too full? Or I was a little aggressive in slamming the door shut? What goes on?! Soaking wet clothes, water on the floor, standing water in the machine (I did manage to scoop some out with a drinking glass...trying to be creative here!)

Once I settled down and recovered from the self-pity, I went to look online at some new washer/dryer combos. I tend to operate by the principle: "If it is broke, buy a new one". Not this time! I found the part! Check it out.

Father's Day

The whole family ended up at my place for Father's Day. We went swimming and had lunch at my condo. My brothers kept the kids entertained. I just love their energy! We watched the twins game and now I'm planning to relax before church.

Boys

These little boys are so entertaining...We were over at Courtney & Alex's house for his birthday and the kids were having fun in the frog pool. They are both going to be big brothers soon - how exciting for these families!

Work Picnic

The social committee planned a fun picnic! It was a beautiful setting in Champlin at Marshall's home...he has the Elm Creek Park Reserve in his backyard! I enjoyed meeting some of the kids and spouses! Great food and good fun!

Jordyn Swims

We went to watch Jordyn swim at the St. Michael Middle School. She did awesome! It was a very cool experience (the pool deck was not cool - it was a Sauna in there!) I loved all the swim caps, matching suits, sophisticated time clock and organization of the heats (is that what they're called?) Fun to see her in action!

Questions

I loved hearing Greg Boyd again at church tonight. He spent time offering perspective on some of the tough questions, like where is God in the pain and suffering? My takeaway was plain and simple: He is right there, wrapping His arms around us. The dialogue was rich and complex, which kept me totally engaged and stirred up even more questions. The pastor (Kurt Vickman) summed up the service by acknowledging that our questions lead us to the God who created us.

After his conversion, he discovered that the faith he embraced failed to address many questions and objections to Christianity...While often known for his dynamic and persuasive speaking style, Greg is also an internationally recognized theologian, an apologist and an author. Some of his beliefs have been highly controversial in traditional evangelical circles, but have had a transforming impact on many lives."

The impact for me tonight was the notion that we start by making choices, but it is our choices that make us. This builds character.

I miss working with flowers. These were attached to an e-mail from a friend and I just love the vibrant colors.
