Visit to Pediatrician

We had our first trip outside - what a beautiful day for meeting the pediatrician! My mom came with us and we even had time to stop at Target!! Tyrin enjoyed the car ride and checked out great at the doctor.

Birth of Tyrin

I'm so excited to announce the birth of Tyrin John Anderson. We welcomed him to the world at 12:59am on 2/9/11. It truly feels like a miracle. He is so precious.

Our birth story

Here are some pictures from the delivery...it was a long day of waiting and then such an incredible experience when he arrived. I can't say enough about the pure generosity and love shown by my friend Allyson, my mom and my birth doula. Together with the nurses (and my dad too!) we were quite the team.


I think this picture says it all...a reflection of really great friendship!


My dad prayed for us on the way to the hospital...as we prepared for the day. He was with us at various times throughout the day. He added such humor and love to the delivery room. I love seeing this picture with the sign of the cross from one hand to the next. I'm blessed to have such wonderful parents!


Tyrin weighed in at 7lb 1oz and 21cm long. I started having contractions at midnight and we went to the hospital at 5am. I was dilated to 4cm at that point and admitted right away. The contractions continued and got much stronger throughout the day. My goal was to deliver naturally without any medications, but after 15 long hours we decided it was best to get the epidural. Things went pretty quick after that and I pushed for about an hour. It was a beautiful thing!





I picked the name Tyrin because of the meaning and origin. It is an African name meaning "God of Peace". It was important to me that he has a name that reflects his entire being - both American (calling him "Ty") and African. His middle name John is a family name...I have great grandfathers on each side named John. The meaning of John is "God has Given". Together this signifies that God has given us Peace through Tyrin John.

Still waiting...

Baby is more than a week overdue. I feel great and can't complain. I'm learning to be patient and trust that he will arrive at the most perfect time. Friends and family check-in on me, which is nice. I'm excited for the opportunity to say "The delivery went well and I have a healthy baby boy"
