Infection

Unfortunately the right implant became infected and had to be removed.  Ty was such a champ during the long weeks of waiting to see if we could beat it.  I never thought I would be so good at wound care!  This was interesting to say the least...

This is us trying to keep busy in the waiting room.  So far I'm impressed by the U of MN Lions Childrens Hearing Clinic - we are lucky to have a great team.  This picture shows the outer device that Ty wears...we tried clipping the processor to his pant and then running the cord up his back.  Because he is so active, it actually works better now to clip on to his collar.  I have a huge box from the manufacturer with color caps and cords of all sizes.  There are some accessories for swimming (I'm not brave enough to have him wear this in the water yet!) and I'm sure we will replace or repair many parts during his lifetime.

Here is a short video of Tyrin's journey...from first getting diagnosis of hearing loss to his latest experience with new Cochlear Implants.  He continues to amaze me!
