It's a Boy!

I'm having a baby - due to arrive in January! This was completely unexpected, so it has been quite a whirlwind. I met Ben online a few years ago and we've dated on and off. He is now in Boston, so the future of our relationship and his parenting is unknown. We considered adoption but I've decided to embrace the role of single mom instead. I know that it is going to be challenging with in many ways as a single mom raising a child of mixed race, but God reminds us of His promises-that His grace is sufficient for us and His strength made perfect in our weaknesses. Perfect love casts out fear and that is my prayer on this journey.

I'm really torn about my response to this concept. It makes sense and seems like a smart approach to relationships, but I'm having some doubt because of my recent personal experiences. What happens when you follow this and still end up in a situation where the other person gives nothing in return? I find it frustrating and exhausting. Sometimes it feels foolish and I wonder if the paradox is true. In my heart, I'm a believer and will always try to have the kindness, respect and patience it takes to achieve great success in relationships. I guess that is all we can ask of ourselves!
